Jasmine Award Winners 2011
The 2011 Jasmine Awards, the premier awards for journalists writing on the subject of fragrance, were held at BAFTA, Piccadilly, London W1 on 8th February 2012. Presiding over the event were the Chairman of the Jasmine Awards, Olivier Marret, Managing Director of Puig UK, and Peter Norman, Chairman of The Fragrance Foundation.
The 2011 judging panel comprised industry expert Joanna Norman, Chairman of Judges, fashion commentator Caryn Franklin, prize-winning English author Dr Rosalind Miles, British fashion designer Jenny Packham, Deborah Parrott, Senior Marketing Manager Fragrance and Beauty at Debenhams, and journalist and author Kathy Phillips. The following awards were announced:-
Best Article in a Customer Magazine:
The judges elected to share the prize between two entries which they found equally deserving - Fleur Fruzza for "A Beautful Mind" in Harrod's magazine, November, and Lucille Howe for'Bottle It' in the July/August issue of Ryanair magazine.
Best Website Feature on Fragrance:
The judges unanimously awarded the prize to 'Persolaise' for the London Perfume Shopping Guide on www.persolaise.com.
Jasmine Soundbite (news press):
Journalist Henry Farrar-Hockley was awarded the prize for 'Scents of Time' in the Sunday Telegraph ST Men's Style magazine published on 2nd October.
Jasmine Soundbite (magazines):
The judges awarded the prize to Rose Beer for her article 'Scents that put a spell on you' in Grazia magazine's 4th April issue.
Best Practical Guide to Fragrance:
Highly commended was Scarlett Curtis with 'Smells like Teen Spirit' written for Tatler magazine when she was just 15. However, the judges decided that the winner should be Cassie Steer for 'A Fragrant Feast' which appeared in November's Marie Claire.
Jasmine Visual Award:
For the 'simplicity and tastefulness' of its presentation, Vogue was awarded the prize for "All Shook Up" in the magazine's December issue, and Wallpaper* was highly commended for the originality of its entry 'Nose in a Book'.
Jasmine Literary Award (news press):
The judges highly commended Lucia van der Post for her article 'The Scent Sorcerer' but decided that the winner should be Vicci Bentley for 'Eau to be in England' in the 7th May issue of FT How to Spend It magazine for its 'humorous and refreshingly pugnacious take in comparing perfume houses in England and France'.
Jasmine Literary Award (magazines):
The judges unanimously decided that Tony Marcus for 'Designer Fragrance: Art Reflecting Life' in the Spring edition of 10 magazine should be the winner.
Best of the Best Award:
A new prize awarded for the 2011 Awards saw Vicci Bentley rewarded again for her entertaining article 'Eau to be in England'
