We are thrilled to announce the Categories & Criteria for The Fragrance Foundation Jasmine Awards 2018.

Entries will be open from 2nd January until 31st January 2018.

This year The Fragrance Foundation Jasmine Awards will be a digitally led process. Winners of these prestigous Awards will receive £1,500 and an invitation to The Fragrance Foundation Awards Ceremony on Thursday 17th May 2018, where their success will be recognised by the Industry.

Categories & Criteria

Literary Piece

 For the best written article over 800 words on any platform.

 Judges Criteria:

  • Did the article increase your knowledge of the subject?
  • Is the storytelling coherent & does it hold your attention?
  • How do you score the calibre of writing?
  • Is the story or concept unique?
  • Did the piece execute the brief submitted by the journalist?
  • Would this piece encourage you to buy fragrance?

Short Piece

For the best written article between 300 – 800 words on any platform

Judges Criteria:

  • Did the article increase your knowledge of the subject?
  • Is the storytelling coherent & does it hold your attention?
  • How do you score the calibre of writing?
  • Is the story or concept unique?
  • Did the piece execute the brief submitted by the journalist?
  • Would this piece encourage you to buy fragrance?

Practical Guide

A how to article of any length on any platform.

Judges Criteria:

  • Did the article increase your knowledge of the subject?
  • How do you score the calibre of writing?
  • Are the ideas presented unique?
  • Did the piece execute the brief submitted by the journalist?
  • Would this piece encourage you to buy fragrance?

Creative Visual

For the most innovative visual work in print or digital.

Judges Criteria:

  • How original did you find the piece?
  • How would you rate the appearance & quality of the captured image(s)?
  • How visually impactful is the piece?
  • Did the piece execute the brief submitted by the author/creative?
  • Would this visual encourage you to buy a fragrance?

Video Engagement

For the most engaging piece of video content. Each submission must include quantitative data to support claims of success. Submissions should be no longer than 15 minutes.

Judges Criteria: 

  • How likely would you be to like or share this content?
  • How creative is the content?
  • Would this video encourage you to buy a fragrance?
  • Did the piece execute the brief submitted by the creative?
  • Is the story or concept unique?
  • How would you rate the quality and craft of the video? (including visual and sound elements)?
  • Does it have longevity or a short lifespan? 
  • How well does the video capture your attention

Social Engagement

For the best use of social media to engage with consumers based on a portfolio of work across all social platforms (up to 10 examples). Entrants to provide a brief including strategy, target audience, key objectives and quantitative data to support claims of success. 

Judges Criteria:

  • Based on the portfolio submitted would these posts encourage you to buy the fragrances mentioned?
  • How likely would you be to like or share this content?
  • How engaging did you find the content?
  • How creative and memorable did you find the content? (in terms of concept, content, design, overall user experience)
  • Are the stories or concepts unique?
  • How successful was the social engagement considering the brief provided?

Rising Star

Open to anyone who is new to fragrance journalism and has been in this field for under 2 years. The piece must have been published either online or in print.

Judges Criteria:

  • Did the article increase your knowledge of the subject?
  • Is the storytelling coherent & does it hold your attention?
  • How do you score the calibre of writing?
  • Is the story or concept unique?
  • Did the piece execute the brief submitted by the journalist?
  • Would this piece encourage you to buy fragrance?

Innovation Award

Most innovative and outstanding approach to a fragrance piece, communicating to and engaging with the fragrance consumer in a creative and novel way across all platforms.

This can be a one-piece submission or a cross media submission and can be an individual or team submission. Please provide an explanation of why you believe your entry satisfies the criteria for the category entered. Each submission must include quantitative data to support claims of success. 

Judges Criteria:

  • How well do you feel the brief was executed? Did the innovation achieve its objectives and goals? 
  • Would this entry encourage you to buy a fragrance?
  • How likely would you be to share this content?
  • How creative and memorable did you find the content provided? (in terms of concept, content, design, technological innovation, craft, overall user experience)
  • How engaging did you find the content?
  • To what extent did this piece engage in a new way with consumers?
  • How unique did you find the content provided?
