Marina Barcenilla is the Founder & Perfumer behind the multi-award winning Marina Barcenilla Parfums fragrance house. She is a pioneer in the realm of natural fragrances, for which she has received two Fragrance Foundation Awards and she has dedicated decades of her life to the study & practice of olfactory art.
Marina regularly shares her knowledge & skills through workshops & perfume courses, which she imparts to students from all around the world, some of whom have gone onto becoming successful fragrance brand owners themselves.
Marina's true passion is the exploration of fragrance to tell personal stories & the use of experimental perfume to facilitate learning & understanding of difficult subjects, such as in her latest olfactory project, AromAtom.

An in depth exploration into classic perfumery and the Chypre Family.
What exactly is a Chypre fragrance? Who launched the first Chypre? What makes up a Chypre accord and what are the notes typically found in Chypre fragrances?
Marina will explore the traditional materials used to compose this perfume family, looking at key ingredients such as Labdanum, Oak Moss and Bergamot, and show why Chypres really are classic perfumes, with a heritage that dates back to thousands of years ago.

Jasmine Training with Sarah McCartney
Sarah McCartney set up 4160Tuesdays in 2012 after writing a novel that featured a problem-solving perfumer and her distinctive fragrances.
Before that she was head writer at Lush for 14 years. Now, with a team of 6 people, all 4160Tuesdays fragrances are handmade in London W3,
and worn by more adventurous perfume lovers around the world.
Sarah's fragrances have been shortlisted for The Fragrance Foundation Independent Fragrance Award both years she has entered.
Her fragrances are made in tiny batches of 50 to 200 bottles and continue to push creative boundaries.

How notes make chords.
Using materials from her lab, Sarah will show how she blends them to create different effects, to give an understanding of the difference between materials, notes and accords.
She'll break out some of the perfume world's secretive synthetics - which magically make perfumes feel lighter, richer or smoother.
You'll be able to blend an accord of your own.

Jasmine Training with Roja Dove
Master Perfumer Roja Dove is one of the world’s most innovative fragrance creatives. Whether exposing the more risqué aspects of perfume, or revealing the industry’s anecdotes that only he knows, Roja always mesmerises and conveys the mysteries and exoticism of perfume with fervour and passion - he is the connoisseurs’ connoisseur. Roja’s creativity, combined with his extraordinary experience, led to his recent appointment as an Ambassador for the GREAT Britain Campaign.
Course 1 is a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of fragrance, covering:
- The unique sense of smell and why everyone smells differently and develops their individual olfactory tastes.
- A brief history of the fragrance industry and they key classic reference fragrances that made the industry what it is today, charting the evolution of modern perfumery through the decades.
- An introduction to the everyday fragrance language and terminologies - i.e. ‘jargon busting’
- Fragrance families, fragrance strengths and the key raw materials
Course 2 offers an in-depth look into how fragrances are made and the creative art of the perfumer, this course covers:
- A focus on the key ingredients and how they are obtained, and the olfactory effects they have.
- Which ingredients fall into which 'facet' of perfumery, and how these can be combined together to create ‘accords’ and how they can be described.
